Miqdam bin Ma’dikarib said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam) saying:
“The offspring of Adam does not fill a vessel worse than his stomach.
Sufficient for the son of Adam is a few pieces to strengthen him.
However if he is not able to do that, then he should allocate a third for his food,
a third for his drink,
and a third for his air to pass.”
