O you who believe!
When you intend to offer As-Salat (the prayer),
wash your faces and your hands (forearms) up to the elbows,
rub (by passing wet hands over) your heads,
and (wash) your feet up to ankles.

Nullifiers of Wudoo

Conditions and Requirements of Wudoo
The Ten Conditions of Wudhoo:1. One must be Muslim
2. He must be sane and conscious
3. He must have reached the age of maturity
4. He must have the Intention
5. He must intend to not stop until he completes his ritual purity
6. He must remove that which makes ritual purity mandatory
7. His private parts must be clean
8. He must use clean water that is permissible
9. He must remove all things that prevent the water from reaching his skin
10. It must be the proper time. This applies to those who have extended periods of
ritual impurity, such as menstruating women
The Six Requirements of Wudhoo:
1. He must wash his face, which is from ear to ear and forehead to chin, and which
includes rinsing the mouth and inhaling water in the nose and blowing it out.
2. He must wash his hands up to (and including) the elbows
3. He must wipe his entire head, including the ears (with water)
4. He must wash his feet up to (and including) the ankles
5. He must maintain this sequence (i.e. 1 to 4)
6. Each of the above acts must be done without any pause in between them so as to
let the previous part of the body that was washed become dry.

Benefits of Keeping/Being in a State of Wudoo

Q: What are the benefits that a Muslim will obtain if he constantly makes wuhdoo after everything that breaks it?
A: Shaykh al-‘Uthaymeen [d. 1421 AH], may Allah have mercy on him, answered:
- The benefits that a Muslim obtains if he constantly makes wuhdoo after everything that breaks it are that he remains in a state of ritual purity, and remaining in a state of ritual purity is a righteous action.
- Also, he may be a person who constantly remembers Allah in all situations, so when he remembers Allah, he will be in a state of ritual purity.
What’s important is that when a person remains in a state of ritual purity, there are many benefits.
- Likewise, he may need to pray, and the place he is in may not have any easily accessible water to make wudhoo with. So, in that situation, he will already be ready for prayer.

The mudd is not simply a double-handful.
A mudd is an actual physical container (like a small bowl or pot, or a large cup), a standardized unit of measurement, one that was widely in use in the time of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) in the marketplaces and in their houses.
It is based on a double-handful - don't get confused - but the Companions used to buy and sell using the containers (the mudd and the saa'), not their own individual double-handfuls, and they used to give their zakaat al-fitr with these containers (the saa' and the mudd). The Prophet (sallaaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) used to have Zayd ibn Thaabit measure out mudds and saa's of food using the standardized mudd and saa'.
So Allaah did not legislate that big-handed people have to give more zakaat al-fitr, and people with small hands give less. Rather there is a standardized measurement to be used, according to how it has been legislated.
Thus, it is known that it is incorrect to define the mudd referred to in the texts as simply anyone's double-handful, rather the mudd referred to was an actual container, which our scholars throughout history have busied themselves recording its size, shape, volume, and description.

How Women Should Wipe Their Head for Wudhoo

Question:
Is the wiping of the head for the woman similar to the man? And what should she do if she has long hair? Does she wipe to the end (of her hair) and then return, or is it sufficient to wipe within the boundaries of the head of the man?
Shaykh Uthaymeen:
It is obligatory for us to know that the legal rulings are consistent between the women and the men, and the men and the women, except where proof is established that differentiates between the two; based upon this: It is prescribed for the woman to wipe the head just as it is prescribed for the man. Thus she places her hands at the front of the head then she wipes to the back of the head, then she returns them to the place she began; just as the man does. And it is not incumbent upon her to wipe down to the bottom of her hair rather she wipes to the bottom of her hair-line. Likewise if the man has long hair down to the shoulders, then it is not incumbent upon him except to wipe down to the hair-line only.
